The Sector Connects Cake Formation to the Vacuum Path

A sector supports the filter medium, collects filtrate and seals into the disc assembly. Geometry or drainage differences can affect both fit and filtration.

Structure

Support surface

Support the cloth while allowing filtrate to reach internal drainage paths.

Interface

Neck and sealing connection

Match the center-shaft or manifold connection, sealing method and assembly spacing.

Media

Cloth attachment

Confirm bag shape, fastening method, edge protection and replacement access.

Compatibility comes before price

Compatibility requires a controlled drawing or verified sample. Record the disc diameter, number of sectors, sector angle, neck interface, mounting details, material and cloth attachment method.

Specification basis

Sector Identification Checklist

A useful quotation identifies the interface and operating duty instead of relying on a photograph or equipment name.

Filter modelSeries, nominal area, disc diameter and serial/project reference.
Disc layoutNumber of discs and sectors per disc; installed position if variants exist.
GeometryLength, angle, thickness, neck and mounting dimensions.

Replacement workflow

Control Fit Before Site Installation

Record the installed condition so a replacement can be checked before dispatch.

1

Identify assembly

Record filter, disc and sector arrangement.

2

Capture dimensions

Use a drawing, scan or verified physical sample.

3

Review material

Connect corrosion and abrasion to the actual duty.

4

Approve drawing

Confirm interfaces and revision before production.

5

Trial fit

Check sealing, runout, clearance and cloth fit safely.

Service-life control

Maintain the Sector as Part of the Disc

Repeated cloth damage, leakage or uneven cake may indicate an underlying sector or assembly issue.

Surface

Inspect support condition

Look for distortion, sharp edges, blocked drainage and damage that can mark the cloth.

Connection

Check seals and fastening

Investigate air ingress, movement and uneven assembly before replacing media again.

Alignment

Verify disc clearance

Confirm runout, scraper relationship and neighboring sector spacing after work.

Safety before inspection or maintenance

Stop the equipment and isolate all hazardous energy that can cause rotation, vacuum, pressure, stored mechanical movement, electrical energization or chemical exposure. Follow the site lockout and permit procedure; inspection and maintenance must be performed only by authorized personnel.

Practical answers

Frequently Asked Questions

These answers support project preparation; the final recommendation depends on the actual duty.

Why is representative slurry data required?
Mineral names do not define filterability. Particle-size distribution, mineralogy, clay, reagents, solids and temperature can change cake formation, permeability and release. Use filterability testing when results matter commercially.
What should be sent for a preliminary review?
Provide dry-solids throughput, feed solids, particle-size data, target cake moisture, operating schedule, elevation and available utilities through the quote request.
Can BOYUN promise cake moisture from the mineral name alone?
No. A defensible target must be tied to representative feed data, test conditions, equipment scope and an agreed operating basis.

Define the Next Engineering Step

Share the feed, throughput, operating target and site constraints. BOYUN will identify missing information and recommend testing, sizing or the appropriate equipment scope.
