Start with the Feed, Product and Water Balance

A dry-stack concept succeeds only when the dewatering equipment and placement system are designed together. Filter cake moisture is important, but consistency, strength, release and weather response also determine whether the cake can be conveyed and placed.

Feed

Stabilize thickener underflow

Buffer variation so the filter receives a controllable solids range.

Filter

Produce repeatable cake

Select media, cycle and area from testwork on representative and difficult feeds.

Stack

Design transport and placement

Match conveyors, transfers, compaction, drainage and operating practices to cake behavior.

Selection boundary

BOYUN’s equipment scope can support filtration and agreed auxiliary interfaces. Geotechnical design, facility siting, water management, placement criteria, monitoring and closure remain project-owner and specialist responsibilities.

Engineering sequence

Build the Dewatering Duty Before Selecting the Machine

A defensible selection follows the material through the circuit and keeps every assumption visible.

1

Define facility criteria

Set water, cake handling and placement objectives with the responsible specialists.

2

Test limiting feed

Include ultrafines, clay and seasonal or ore-domain variation.

3

Design filtration

Set area, vacuum, media, washing, discharge and installed availability.

4

Design materials handling

Confirm conveyors, transfer points, surge capacity and operating envelope.

5

Verify interfaces

Document control philosophy, drainage, water return, access and acceptance tests.

Facility Safety Requires Lifecycle Management

The Global Industry Standard addresses the complete tailings-facility lifecycle. A filtration package is only one part of that wider management system.

Practical answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Use these answers to prepare a useful discussion with BOYUN. Final equipment selection still depends on project data.

Why is representative slurry data required?
Mineral names do not define filterability. Particle-size distribution, mineralogy, clay, reagent chemistry, feed solids and temperature can change cake formation, permeability and release. Use the filterability test process when performance is commercially important.
What information should be sent for a preliminary review?
Provide duty, mineral, dry throughput, feed solids, particle size or P80, target moisture, operating hours, elevation and available utilities through the disc filter quote page.
Does BOYUN guarantee cake moisture from a mineral name?
No. A responsible target must be tied to representative feed data, test conditions and an agreed equipment and operating basis.

Define the Next Engineering Step

Share the slurry, dry throughput, feed solids, particle size and target cake moisture. BOYUN will identify missing data and recommend testing, sizing or a suitable filter configuration.
