TP Series Energy-Efficient Vacuum Disc Filter for Mining

BOYUN’s TP Series is a continuous cloth-media vacuum disc filter designed for mineral plants that treat electricity as a lifecycle cost. Models from 6 to 120 m² combine matched vacuum equipment, controlled air flow and a low-resistance filtration path while maintaining the capacity and cake-moisture duty defined by the slurry.

Lower Energy Demand Starts with the Complete Vacuum Path

An energy-efficient vacuum disc filter is more than a smaller motor. Useful savings come from reducing avoidable air leakage and pressure loss, selecting pumps for the real operating point and controlling the system without compromising cake formation or drying.

Review Sizing Inputs
Vacuum matching

Pumps selected for the duty

The vacuum source, receiver and piping must supply the pressure and flow required by the cake without excessive installed margin.

Lower resistance

Protect the available pressure

Pipe routing, valve condition, sector seals and suitable cloth reduce losses between the filter surface and the vacuum equipment.

Operating control

Use energy when filtration needs it

Disc speed, slurry level, vacuum and blowback settings should follow actual feed behavior instead of one fixed assumption.

How to calculate annual energy

Annual electricity = measured average input kW × operating hours. Compare configurations at the same dry throughput, feed condition and moisture target.

Energy-aware filtration cycle

How the TP Series Converts Vacuum into Useful Dewatering

Every restriction or air leak consumes part of the pressure available at the cloth. The TP design and operating plan focus on the whole path.

1

Conditioned feed

Stable solids concentration and agitation support even cake formation.

2

Efficient formation

Vacuum and cloth permeability establish the filtration rate without unnecessary restriction.

3

Controlled drying

Disc speed and drying arc provide the residence time needed for the target cake.

4

Low-loss transfer

Seals, valve timing, receivers and piping protect vacuum at the filter sectors.

5

Clean discharge

Blowback and cloth washing restore the surface for the next filtration cycle.

Long-hour mining applications

Where Energy Cost Has the Greatest Commercial Weight

The TP Series is most relevant when a filter operates many hours per year and the plant can compare energy at a consistent production duty.

Installed power is not annual consumption

Use measured or estimated operating input, load profile and annual hours for lifecycle calculations.

The Data Behind a Credible Energy Comparison

BOYUN separates the process requirement from the energy calculation. The first step proves the filter can meet production and moisture. The second compares how much electrical input each complete configuration needs.

01

Same dry-solids throughput

Compare kWh at equal tonnes of dry solids, not only motor nameplates.

02

Same moisture requirement

A shorter drying arc can lower power and still fail the product specification.

03

Measured current baseline

Record average kW, vacuum, uptime and feed condition where existing equipment is available.

04

Defined project boundary

State whether pumps, blowers, agitators and auxiliaries are included in both alternatives.

TP Series, PG Series or Ceramic?

Energy is one decision variable. Cloth consumption, particle retention, maintenance practice and slurry response can change the best choice.

PG Series standard vacuum disc filter

A broad-duty cloth-media platform when proven arrangement, flexible configurations and plant standardization lead the decision.

BY Series ceramic vacuum disc filter

A cloth-free option for suitable fine concentrates where capillary filtration and ceramic plate cleaning fit the duty.

TP Series Energy Questions

Use comparable operating data to turn an energy claim into a procurement decision.

What makes the TP Series an energy-saving vacuum disc filter?
The TP Series is configured to reduce avoidable pressure losses and match the vacuum system more closely to the filtration duty. Pump selection, piping resistance, sealing, cloth permeability, valve timing and control strategy all influence actual input power.
How much energy can the TP Series save?
A responsible saving figure requires a defined baseline. Compare measured average input power at equal dry throughput, feed conditions, operating hours and cake-moisture requirement. BOYUN can prepare a project-specific comparison when current-equipment data is available.
Does lower installed power guarantee lower annual electricity use?
No. Installed motor rating is not the same as average operating demand. Annual energy depends on actual load, control method, uptime, air leakage, pump efficiency and tonnes processed. The proposal should separate installed power from the operating estimate.
Will an energy-efficient disc filter maintain capacity and cake moisture?
It should be selected against the same filtration duty as the comparison equipment. Slurry test data is needed to confirm filtration rate and moisture. Energy optimization must not remove the vacuum and drying time required by the cake.
When should I choose the TP Series instead of the PG Series?
Consider the TP Series when long operating hours and electricity cost make lifecycle energy a major purchasing criterion. The PG Series may remain appropriate when simplicity, existing plant standardization or a specific vacuum arrangement carries more value. Compare both on total scope and annual duty.
Can an existing disc-filter plant be upgraded for lower energy use?
Some losses can be reduced by correcting leaks, pipe restrictions, control settings, worn valves or mismatched pumps. A retrofit assessment must review the existing equipment and process data. It is not safe to promise compatibility or savings without that inspection.
What data is needed for an energy comparison?
Provide current dry throughput, average measured kW, annual hours, feed solids, cake moisture, vacuum level, pump data and electricity price. If there is no current baseline, BOYUN can compare candidate configurations using the same design duty.
