Choose Cloth by Duty, Not Color or Appearance

BOYUN reviews cloth construction together with particle retention, air and liquid permeability, cake release, chemistry, cleaning and the installed sector.

Retention

Control solids in filtrate

Select a structure that retains the required solids without creating unnecessary resistance.

Permeability

Support stable cycle performance

Balance cake pickup, drying and flow across normal and difficult feed conditions.

Release

Discharge cake without media damage

Evaluate surface behavior, blowback and mechanical contact under the real cycle.

Compatibility comes before price

Provide a used or unused reference cloth when possible, plus its construction record, sector drawing and slurry data. Material names alone do not define weave, finish, permeability or dimensional fit.

Specification basis

Cloth Selection Data

A useful quotation identifies the interface and operating duty instead of relying on a photograph or equipment name.

Polymer and constructionFiber, yarn, weave or felt construction and finishing.
PermeabilitySpecified test method, pressure basis and acceptable range.
Retention dutyPSD, valuable-fines loss limit and filtrate clarity target.
Chemical conditionpH, reagents, temperature, oxidation and cleaning exposure.
Mechanical fitSector dimensions, seams, closure, fastening and edge protection.
Operating historyLife, blinding pattern, damage, cake release and wash practice.
Replacement workflow

Screen, Fit and Verify the Media

Record the installed condition so a replacement can be checked before dispatch.

1

Characterize slurry

Capture PSD, chemistry, solids and variation.

2

Define acceptance

Set filtrate, cake, release and service-life goals.

3

Screen cloth

Compare candidate constructions with a consistent method.

4

Verify fit

Check bag geometry, seams and fastening on the sector.

5

Trend in service

Record permeability loss, damage and replacement reason.

Service-life control

Extend Cloth Life Without Hiding Process Problems

Cleaning and replacement intervals should respond to measured condition and the cause of blinding or damage.

Washing

Control wash coverage

Inspect nozzles, pressure, water quality and alignment without exceeding the cloth’s mechanical limits.

Process

Track feed changes

Relate early blinding or poor release to fines, solids, reagents and cycle changes.

Handling

Install without damage

Protect seams and surfaces from sharp sector edges, excessive tension and tools.

Safety before inspection or maintenance

Stop the equipment and isolate all hazardous energy that can cause rotation, vacuum, pressure, stored mechanical movement, electrical energization or chemical exposure. Follow the site lockout and permit procedure; inspection and maintenance must be performed only by authorized personnel.

Practical answers

Frequently Asked Questions

These answers support project preparation; the final recommendation depends on the actual duty.

Why is representative slurry data required?
Mineral names do not define filterability. Particle-size distribution, mineralogy, clay, reagents, solids and temperature can change cake formation, permeability and release. Use filterability testing when results matter commercially.
What should be sent for a preliminary review?
Provide dry-solids throughput, feed solids, particle-size data, target cake moisture, operating schedule, elevation and available utilities through the quote request.
Can BOYUN promise cake moisture from the mineral name alone?
No. A defensible target must be tied to representative feed data, test conditions, equipment scope and an agreed operating basis.

Define the Next Engineering Step

Share the feed, throughput, operating target and site constraints. BOYUN will identify missing information and recommend testing, sizing or the appropriate equipment scope.
