Start with the Feed, Product and Water Balance

A mining dewatering system must connect the upstream thickener or conditioning step to filtration, filtrate handling, cake discharge and downstream transport. BOYUN begins with the complete duty rather than a model number.

Selection boundary

Vacuum disc filters are strong candidates for continuous, filterable mineral slurries. Very fine, high-clay or poorly conditioned feeds may need different preparation, another filtration technology or pilot-scale confirmation.

Engineering sequence

Build the Dewatering Duty Before Selecting the Machine

A defensible selection follows the material through the circuit and keeps every assumption visible.

1

Define the duty

Separate concentrate, tailings and process-water objectives; state dry throughput and operating schedule.

2

Characterize feed

Record solids concentration, PSD, mineralogy, temperature, pH and relevant reagents.

3

Test filterability

Measure cake formation, permeability, moisture, filtrate clarity and release under controlled conditions.

4

Size the system

Translate test flux into area, cycles, vacuum demand, installed redundancy and auxiliary requirements.

5

Confirm interfaces

Align feed, filtrate, cake conveying, utilities, controls, access and acceptance criteria.

Frequently Asked Questions

Use these answers to prepare a useful discussion with BOYUN. Final equipment selection still depends on project data.

Why is representative slurry data required?
Mineral names do not define filterability. Particle-size distribution, mineralogy, clay, reagent chemistry, feed solids and temperature can change cake formation, permeability and release. Use the filterability test process when performance is commercially important.
What information should be sent for a preliminary review?
Provide duty, mineral, dry throughput, feed solids, particle size or P80, target moisture, operating hours, elevation and available utilities through the disc filter quote page.
Does BOYUN guarantee cake moisture from a mineral name?
No. A responsible target must be tied to representative feed data, test conditions and an agreed equipment and operating basis.

Define the Next Engineering Step

Share the slurry, dry throughput, feed solids, particle size and target cake moisture. BOYUN will identify missing data and recommend testing, sizing or a suitable filter configuration.
