Frequently Asked Questions

These answers support project preparation; the final recommendation depends on the actual duty.

Which mining slurries can use a vacuum disc filter?
Suitable feeds form a permeable, stable cake and release at a viable rate under vacuum. Mineral name alone is insufficient; review the filterability test.
What information is needed to select a disc filter?
Provide mineral and stream, PSD, feed solids, temperature, pH and reagents, dry-solids throughput, cake and filtrate targets, operating schedule, elevation and utilities. See the selection guide.
How is disc filter area calculated?
Area is based on dry-solids duty divided by a representative tested dry-solids flux, then reviewed for availability, variability and justified design margin. See disc filter sizing.
Can cake moisture be guaranteed without testing?
A responsible guarantee needs representative feed data, defined equipment scope, operating conditions, measurement methods and acceptance criteria. A mineral name or single historical value is not enough.
What is the difference between cloth and ceramic disc filters?
They use different media, cleaning and consumable strategies. Compare slurry suitability, cake release, filtrate, cleaning and lifecycle requirements in the cloth-versus-ceramic guide.
Does lower disc speed always reduce cake moisture?
More drying time may reduce moisture, but it can also reduce throughput and alter cake thickness or release. Change settings only through a controlled trial while tracking dry production.
Why has vacuum become low or unstable?
Possible causes include instrument error, air leakage, valve or seal wear, receiver flooding, restriction, pump condition or changed process load. Follow the low-vacuum diagnostic sequence.
How should filter cloth be selected?
Balance retention, permeability, cake release, chemical compatibility, cleaning and dimensional fit. Representative cloth screening and the installed sector interface are essential. Review filter cloth selection.
When should spare parts be ordered?
Plan from installed quantity, condition trend, consumption, failure consequence and confirmed replenishment time. Identify every item by model, serial/project reference and controlled part information on the spare-parts page.
What must be ready before commissioning?
Mechanical completion, flushed connections, safe power and utilities, verified interlocks, access, representative feed, trained site staff and approved start-up documents. See installation and commissioning.
Can BOYUN support an installed filter outside China?
Remote or contracted site support is confirmed by project, location, language, access, schedule and scope. Start with the equipment identity and issue evidence on the service page.
How should technical documents be requested?
Provide equipment or project identity, required document, language and intended use. Request the current revision through the downloads and technical data page.
