Define Who Does What Before Mobilization

The contract should distinguish BOYUN supervision or guidance from installation labor, lifting, utilities, consumables, permits and plant operations supplied by the customer or other contractors.

PhaseBOYUN support when contractedCustomer/site preparation
Before installationReview current drawings, sequence and critical interfaces.Complete civil work, access, storage, lifting plan and qualified installation team.
Mechanical completionReview alignment, assembly, lubrication and connection checklists.Finish erection, piping, electrical work, guarding, punch list and statutory checks.
Cold commissioningSupport rotation, valve, instrument, interlock and utility checks.Provide authorized operators, safe utilities and completed pre-startup approvals.
Wet commissioningSupport controlled introduction of water and slurry and operating adjustment.Provide stable feed, downstream availability, sampling and laboratory support.
HandoverReview records, training and outstanding actions.Accept deliverables, close punch items and own routine operation.

Safety before inspection or maintenance

Stop the equipment and isolate all hazardous energy that can cause rotation, vacuum, pressure, stored mechanical movement, electrical energization or chemical exposure. Follow the site lockout and permit procedure; inspection and maintenance must be performed only by authorized personnel.

Site readiness

Prerequisites for an Efficient Start-Up

Confirm readiness before travel, remote session or first rotation.

Mechanical completionSigned checks for assembly, alignment, fastening, guards and lubrication.
Process connectionsFlushed feed, filtrate, vacuum, air, wash and drain systems.
Electrical and controlsEnergization approval, motor checks, interlocks and communication.
Safe accessPlatforms, lighting, lifting, exclusion zones and emergency arrangements.
Operating materialWater, representative slurry, filter media and required consumables.
Project teamNamed commissioning lead, operators, maintenance and laboratory support.
Commissioning sequence

Move from Static Checks to Defined Performance

The actual commissioning plan follows the supplied equipment, site rules and contract.

1

Readiness review

Close critical prerequisites and assign responsibilities.

2

Static inspection

Confirm assembly, levels, clearances, lubrication and connections.

3

No-load checks

Test rotation, drives, valves, instruments and interlocks.

4

Wet start-up

Introduce water and slurry under controlled conditions.

5

Acceptance and handover

Measure agreed criteria, record settings and train the team.

Acceptance basis

Agree the Test Before the Test Starts

Record feed conditions, stabilized period, sampling points, laboratory methods, calculation formulas, exclusions and responsibilities. Results outside the agreed feed envelope should trigger engineering review, not an improvised guarantee.

Process

Defined operating window

Feed solids, PSD, temperature, throughput and chemistry must match the agreed test basis.

Measurement

Shared sampling method

Use identified sample points, frequency, preparation and laboratory procedures.

Handover

Training and records

Close operating settings, maintenance actions, spare parts and open items.

Practical answers

Frequently Asked Questions

These answers support project preparation; the final recommendation depends on the actual duty.

Why is representative slurry data required?
Mineral names do not define filterability. Particle-size distribution, mineralogy, clay, reagents, solids and temperature can change cake formation, permeability and release. Use filterability testing when results matter commercially.
What should be sent for a preliminary review?
Provide dry-solids throughput, feed solids, particle-size data, target cake moisture, operating schedule, elevation and available utilities through the quote request.
Can BOYUN promise cake moisture from the mineral name alone?
No. A defensible target must be tied to representative feed data, test conditions, equipment scope and an agreed operating basis.

Define the Next Engineering Step

Share the feed, throughput, operating target and site constraints. BOYUN will identify missing information and recommend testing, sizing or the appropriate equipment scope.
